What is weather pain all about? Well it became humorously obvious to us that my hips could predict the weather better than the weather experts! There are many instances when there is no rain in the forecast but I'll disagree and voila! Rain! My pain is arthritis in my hips. My family and friends started calling me and asking if we'd have rain or not and I began thinking about all of us that have aches and pains that are triggered by weather and thought, what a great idea to catalog these in various regions and predict our own weather! We can compare it to the forecasts and then go back and check the real results. So if your weatherman calls for a 10% chance of rain, your hips (or other ailment) might tell you otherwise... You may know it's a 100% chance, or 99% since even the best of pains *could* somehow (don't know how) be wrong.
I remember when I was a child there was a hilarious commercial on t.v. This was back in the late 70's. We lived in Indianapolis so snow was an inevitable part of winter. The local weatherman's name was Bob Gregory and he ran a commercial that stuck with me through the years. Picture a mother trying to bundle her child up for walking to school in a snowsuit, boots, hats, scarf, mittens, the works! Then the mother opens up the front door to let the child out and the child shuffles awkwardly through the door to find the sun brightly shining and no snow. I loved that he could laugh at himself and admit that he wasn't always right.
As far as I know, weather isn't an exact science. There is room for human interpretation and error. But our weather reading bodies don't know how to mess up a weather report. Our aches and pains respond to the changes in the air and can predict weather more accurately many news sites! Let's give this a try. Are you a human barometer? Let me know your region and let's track this phenomena together.
